Lessons Learned From Our Wedding

When planning our wedding, the most given piece of advice to me was, “sometime will go wrong, but everything will work out in the end”. And boy that couldn’t have been more true.

Let’s rewind to the week before our big day. That Monday was when everything started to go haywire. I’m not being dramatic when I say that almost EVERYTHING went wrong the week leading up to our wedding. You name it, it probably threw a wrench in our plans. And just when I thought things got all sorted out and we were ready to go, nope, another issue. 45 minutes before our wedding, we found out that all the alcohol was delivered to the wrong wedding that was located an hour and a half away. Yes, that happened. But somehow, come cocktail hour, people were sipping on champagne! I still have no idea how that all got worked out haha.

Looking back almost a month later, it’s actually pretty comical what we went through right before our wedding day, even though at the time, I was practically having a mental breakdown from all the stress and didn’t think it was all that funny lol.

Somehow though, thanks to all our incredible vendors and wedding planner, our wedding was more perfect than I could have ever dreamed of. And everything turned out even better than planned. So this brings me to 6 lessons I learned from our wedding, and I bet y’all can guess the first one 😏

Things WILL GO WRONG. And probably more than just one or two things. But honestly, somehow it all comes together in the end and your wedding day is going to be perfect.

  1. Relax and have fun! Even though things were really hectic and stressful right before our wedding day, I just kept reminding myself that in the end, I’m marrying my best friend and that’s really all that matters. Don’t be a bridezilla and just enjoy the moments. Which leads me to number 3…

  2. Enjoy every second of the wedding planning process because it truly does fly by. From finding your dream dress, to picking your marriage license up from the court house, soak up every bit of it. It really is such an incredibly special time in your life that goes by in the blink of an eye.

  3. Don’t drink to much at your wedding. And I’m not referring to water. Your wedding is a day that you will want to remember for the rest of your life, so don’t cloud that memory with too many sips of champagne! I am so happy Chris & I didn’t drink much because we were able to have a ton of fun without getting sloppy, we remember every detail of that night, and woke up the next morning feeling great. Tired, but great.

  4. Make your wedding a reflection of you as a couple. We tied several of our favorite things into our wedding that really made our day feel like us. Chris and I are obsessed with funfetti cake, so our wedding cake was funfetti flavored! We also love fajitas, so we had fajitas! Both were a huge hit and sooo many of our guests still talk about how much our wedding was a reflection of us, which they loved.

  5. If you are going to write your own vows and rain is a potential, laminate them! Chris did, because he’s smart lol, but I didn’t and was sooo nervous because it almost rained during our ceremony!
